Sammy Grow’s interest in LGBTQ activism started with his involvement with BGLAD, a queer youth support group on Seattle’s eastside, which led to his participation in PUT THIS ON THE {MAP}. Inspired by the stories of his fellow queer youth, Sammy expanded his activism to include outreach to high schools and locally-based corporations (Starbucks, Expedia, Microsoft, etc.), sharing the queer youth perspective.
Currently, Sammy is a part of the launch committee for Queer Youth Space, whose goals include opening a safe, inclusive, all-ages cultural arts venue and workspace in Seattle’s Capitol Hill that fosters and supports Seattle’s queer youth community.
Sammy believes that personal growth is an ongoing process, and that we learn best when we both share and listen to each other’s perspectives and experiences.
